Destiny

Following Bungie’s recent announcement that Destiny 2‘s PlayStation 4 players will get access to exclusive content in the Warmind expansion, Guardians can now get the first look at one of the Sony-exclusive experiences.

In a recent episode of PlayStation Underground, Warmind designer director Evan Nikolich and Destiny 2 sandbox design lead Josh Hamrick showed off the PlayStation 4–exclusive Strike, Insight Terminus. In the video, which you can check out below, the fireteam reveals the path of the mission, uses a few of the new and reworked weapons, and discusses what players will experience in Warmind.

According to Hamrick, Insight Terminus will be one of the three new Strikes introduced into Destiny 2 through the DLC. While PlayStation 4 players will begin with exclusive access to Insight Terminus, the Strike will be available on all platforms in the fall. It appears the mission will take place on Nessus and require fireteams to explore an underground portion of the Vex-controlled planet. Interestingly, the Vex do make a brief appearance during the Strike, but players will mostly be confronted by Cabal. The end boss, Kargen, is a Psion commander that will unleash waves of Cabal before being defeated.

The designers also showed off a handful of new and returning weapons arriving in Warmind and season three on May 8th. The Suros Regime auto rifle from Destiny will be returning with its usual perks. The auto rifle will feature a scope that slows down the weapon’s rate of fire in exchange for more powerful rounds when aiming down sights. Nikolich wielded the Polaris Lance scout rifle, Ana Bray’s weapon of choice, which will be attainable during Warmind‘s campaign. The major perk for the scout rifle will be that after four precision shots, the fifth shot will be a delayed explosive solar round. Players can also get a glimpse at the Sins of the Past rocket launcher from Destiny, Better Devils, Positive Outlook, and the improved Borealis sniper rifle.

Throughout the remainder of the video, the developers also discussed the other new features that will be available in Warmind and season three. In particular, the group covers the upcoming Crucible ranking system, which will have Guardians competing in PvP matches for powerful gear. Two different versions of the ranking system will be available: Valor and Glory. Valor will let players climb the ranks just by participating in Crucible matches, while players will only be able to climb Glory’s ranks by winning matches.

Destiny 2 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
