Destiny 2‘s next expansion, Forsaken, is still a few months away from launch, but that hasn’t stopped fans from poring over recent information for hidden clues of what to expect. In particular, one player has proposed an ancient dragon race might be featured in the DLC.

In a recent Reddit post from user BluetheSmurf1, the player suggested part of Forsaken‘s story will involve the Ahamkara, a race of dragons mentioned several times in Destiny‘s Grimoire cards and gear descriptions. Their idea was sparked by a quote from Game Informer‘s upcoming August issue, which will cover many details about the DLC.

The full quote the user referenced is as follows: “Virtually drawn from the pages of a fantasy novel, the Dreaming City is the elven homeland under threat from an insidious dragon.”

However, while it would be fascinating to see dragons enter the world of Destiny 2, other Guardians have questioned BluetheSmurf1’s idea. For example, users lipidquadcab and eldritchqueen have stressed the importance of taking the dragon quote as a metaphor and not confirmation that a literal dragon will be found in Forsaken. Instead, they suggested the “dragon” is a symbol for the Taken, which have been confirmed to be a large enemy force in the upcoming DLC.

Of course, the Ahamkara theory has its supporters, too. Due to the Dreaming City’s raid being called Keep of Voices, a few players have considered it as another reference to the dragons, as previous lore has teased the Ahamkara only have the voices in their bones left. It’s a stretch, but Bungie could be linking vague lore together for a surprise reveal in Forsaken.

As we get closer to the expansion’s September release, we might hear more about this possible ancient threat. For now, though, it should be considered a rumor. One enticing feature the developer has confirmed will be Forsaken‘s format for its raid destination. In the Dreaming City, instead of only offering the raid activity, Guardians will have new areas to explore and missions to complete that can be done solo or with a small fireteam.

Destiny 2 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Forsaken is set to launch on September 5th.
