Destiny

The most popular PvP experience to come from Destiny 2‘s Forsaken expansion has undeniably been Gambit, letting players take on a variety of enemies and fellow Guardians all at once. However, it seems Bungie hasn’t forgotten about the die-hard Crucible fans, as a new mode is set to arrive soon.

According to the developer’s latest blog post, a new PvP mode, Breakthrough, will be added to the weekly featured Crucible playlist and Forsaken‘s private matches on Tuesday, September 25th. Then on October 2nd, Guardians will be able to experience it on the Competitive playlist.

In the mode, fireteams will fight to take over a central zone and deactivate Breakers that are deployed by each team. “As players work to deploy the Breaker, the zone can be contested, resulting in an epic tug-of-war between the two teams,” Bungie explained. Each team will also have a Vault that will need to be hacked to win the round.

Bungie provided a sneak peek of the maps that Breakthrough will take place on, including the PlayStation 4–exclusive location, Gambler’s Ruin. Starting on September 25th, all players will have access to Equinox, Firebase Echo, The Citadel, and Convergence. Check out the gallery below to see the PvP areas.

Not many other updates were included in the weekly blog post, but the developer did take time to congratulate Clan Redeem on their achievement of earning World’s First status for completing the Last Wish raid. It took close to 19 hours to conquer the difficult raid, but as a surprise to all Guardians, new content was unlocked throughout Destiny 2 after the team’s win. Players can now experience a new Strike and Gambit arena in the Forsaken DLC.

Destiny 2 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
