Bungie will be taking Destiny 2‘s servers offline later today to push hotfix 188.8.131.52 live.
The maintenance is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. PT, at which point players will no longer be able to log into the game. Following this, all players will be returned to the title screen at 9 a.m. PT while the hotfix is implemented. Finally, the servers will be back online at 12 p.m. PT, however, as usual, there’s a warning that the maintenance may take longer than expected if issues arise.
The hotfix will fix an issue with Lost Sector chests, making it so they can only be opened once after killing the boss.
“The chest may still respawn if you leave and return rapidly (due to a larger issue with our activity tech that would require significant changes to fix) but you won’t be able to open it again,” senior designer Alex Velicky explained. “You’ll get the ‘code required’ prompt unless the boss also respawns and you defeat them again. We’ve also completely removed the reward throttle from Lost Sectors as it is no longer necessary and we agree it was a poor player experience.”
In other news, Bungie will soon be overhauling Destiny 2‘s Nightfall Strike and Prestige raid system. On the Nightfall side of things, a new scoring system will be introduced along with Challenge cards. While the Prestige raid will lock players to a set loadout and mod.
Destiny 2 is available now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
