Destiny

Destiny 2‘s upcoming expansion, Warmind, will introduce new missions, gear, and a fresh story to players, as well as additional features outside of the DLC. In particular, all Guardians will have the chance to jump into new Crucible maps, and now, they can get the first look at two of the areas.

In Bungie’s recent blog post, the developer revealed the two Crucible arenas that will arrive alongside Warmind and season three’s launch on May 8th. The two maps—Meltdown and Solitude—can be seen in the images below.

As the upcoming expansion will take place on Mars, both Crucible areas reflect different aspects of the planet. Meltdown will feature Mars’ iconic red sand and references to Clovis Bray, a corporation that appeared in the plot of the first Destiny. Acting as the polar opposite will be Solitude, which seems to be an ice-covered cavernous arena, similar to the setting Guardians will journey through in Warmind.

While only owners of the DLC will be able to experience Warmind‘s full story, both Crucible maps will be available to all players in public playlists. However, playing Meltdown and Solitude in private matches will be exclusive to the expansion.

Outside of Warmind, season three will change many PvP and PvE experiences in Destiny 2. All players will soon have the chance to create Exotic Masterworks and increase their Power levels. To aid Guardians in both of those quests, previously released raid activities, including Leviathan and Eater of Worlds, will drop high-level gear. For PvP, the new Crucible rankings will allow dedicated players to go head-to-head and strive to be undefeated. Guardians that can reach the highest rank will even earn one of the most powerful weapons seen so far in the shooter.

Destiny 2 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
