Destiny 2‘s latest Faction Rally has declared a winning team.
Since the launch of season two of the in-game event, Guardians have been searching every corner of the galaxy to gain Faction Tokens for one of three teams—New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, and Future War Cult—and in turn, earn enough points to become the winning faction. Taking the crown this time was New Monarchy, which means players can now purchase the Honor’s Edge sword, seen below.
Just like last time, at the end of the limited event, the team with the most tokens has earned bragging rights throughout the Tower and the opportunity to have their team’s branded weapon on sale. While all players have the chance to buy Honor’s Edge for 50,000 glimmer, members of the winning faction will get a significant discount, with the sword priced at only 1,000 glimmer.
In the first Faction Rally, Dead Orbit won the event, which made most Guardians believe the team would triumph again due to popularity. However, while many players pledged their allegiance in season two to the previous winner, the branded weapons offered this time might have swayed many away. Future War Cult’s fusion rifle was a solid choice to fight for, but Dead Orbit’s grenade launcher seemed to be the less enticing of the three options. Swords are slightly more uncommon than other weapon types in Destiny 2, making New Monarchy’s item a standout, but grenade launchers don’t offer much control with hit detection. So, it’s likely many players pulled their support from Dead Orbit and pledged allegiance to the sword team.
Unlike the first Faction Rally, this time around Bungie offered Guardians the chance to earn Faction Tokens through Lost Sectors. The developer did nerf how many tokens would drop from events, including the Lost Sectors, but of course, Guardians found a clever way to farm the tokens efficiently.
With season two of the event over, Bungie has not stated when the next Faction Rally will begin, but there’s plenty of new content coming soon anyway. The game’s first expansion, Curse of Osiris, will launch on December 5th, and even before it arrives, Bungie is holding three livestreams to detail the new features coming to Destiny 2 through the DLC.
Destiny 2 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
