Destiny

During the most recent episode of Kotaku’s Splitscreen podcast, Bungie’s Luke Smith revealed a new weekly event that will be in Destiny 2 called Flashpoints.

Smith describes Flashpoints as a featured destination each week that players can go to and earn “super powerful rewards” that are equivalent to unknown rewards from the Nightfall. At this location, players will have perform a number of tasks such as fighting special enemies and locating treasure maps. Whether it will be a single task in each location every week or a checklist to complete was not mentioned.

Earlier this week, Smith also revealed that the upcoming sequel will introduce a new punishment for players who die in raids. According to Smith, the old system of being forced to sit and watch when killed just wasn’t fun, but he failed to share exactly what this new system will be.

For those of you wondering about the Xbox One X version of Destiny 2, it was recently confirmed that the game will be locked at 30 FPS, just like the PlayStation 4 Pro version of the game.

Destiny 2 officially launches September 6th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with a PC release to follow on October 24th. An open beta is scheduled to begin on consoles in July and on PC in August.
