Despite Destiny 2 players still anxiously awaiting the launch of Warmind, the game’s second expansion, Activision Blizzard has already started teasing what’s to come in the third expansion. According to the publisher, the shooter’s third DLC will include a new way to play first-person shooters.
The tease came from Activision Blizzard during its recent first-quarter earnings call, where the progress of each of the company’s major games were detailed. While Destiny 2 was only briefly touched upon, chief operating officer Coddy Johnson revealed a third expansion for the game will arrive in the fall and house an “incredibly engaging” feature that will be new to first-person shooters.
While no additional details about the supposedly revolutionary mode were given, Activision Blizzard stated more about the mysterious expansion will be unveiled at this year’s E3. A handful of players have already played the mode in question, though.
During Bungie’s recent content creators summit, streamers and active fans of Destiny 2 were able to try out several upcoming features for the shooter, including some from the fall expansion. However, the attendees signed non-disclosure agreements, which means we’ll have to wait until E3 to know concrete details about it.
At this point, the community can only speculate about what the aforementioned mode will be. It most likely won’t be the recently popular battle royale-style mode, as the expansion’s feature was said to be revolutionary for the genre.
Until we hear more, Guardians will have plenty of new content to jump into with the launch of Warmind on May 8th. Apart from the new set of story missions, players will be able to experience a new raid lair, a rotating survival mission, earn new Exotics, and increase their Power levels.
Destiny 2 is available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
