Destiny characters can transfer to new consoles, more gameplay video released

Posted on April 28, 2014 AT 11:40am

Destiny players will be able to transfer their characters from PS3 to PS4 and Xbox 360 to Xbox One, Bungie investment lead Tyson Green confirmed to Polygon.

“We’re interested in making sure that [a] last gen character can move to next gen,” Green said. “A lot of people are going to buy Destiny for PS3 or Xbox 360 and then get a PS4 for Christmas. Don’t tell me I wasted those last 100 hours there. So we’re really interested i nsupporting that. Our longer-term platform plans, I couldn’t speak to right now. But we don’t want to lock people in.”

Meanwhile, Bungie community manager David “DeeJ” Dague took to the PlayStation Blog today to unveil seven minutes of new Destiny footage focused on an area referred to as The Devil’s Lair. According to Dague, the gameplay being shown off in the video (above) is a “Strike”—a co-op mission that sends a Fireteam on a specific mission, usually requiring the defeat of hostiles, in exchange for loot reward. Said flop of Satan is, in actuality, the ruined remains of somewhere in Russia.

Destiny launches on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 September 9 worldwide.
