Bungie’s upcoming open-world, first-person shooter, Destiny, will be available to pre-load on Xbox One, Microsoft has confirmed.
Users who pre-order the game via the Xbox Games Store will be able to download and install the game ahead of time, so that’s it’s ready for launch day. A listing for the game on Xbox.com stated that players will be able to access the game from September 9 at 12:01 a.m. PT/3:01 a.m. ET. The ability to pre-load the game was later confirmed by a Microsoft representative:
“We’re thrilled to make Destiny available for pre-order and pre-download for Xbox One owners around the world,” the rep told Polygon. “This option was available for a short period of time before the official pre-order window opened. We’ll have more details to share soon about the pre-order and pre-download window for Destiny.”
The ability to pre-download pre-ordered games on Xbox One was announced during Microsoft’s Gamescom press conference. Last week, Madden NFL 15 became the first title to take advantage of this new feature.
Destiny is set to hit PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One on September 9.
