Following their launch date announcement for House of Wolves earlier today, Bungie revealed that Destiny?s second expansion won?t contain a Raid.
?House of Wolves will not have a Raid activity,? reads a post on Bungie?s official website. ?We didn?t make this decision lightly. Our team has been humbled by the reception of Raids in Destiny and we are creating a new Raid for a release later this year. House of Wolves will have a new cooperative end game activity focused on variety, replayability, and skill?a new battle arena called The Prison of Elders.?
The Prison of Elders is one of many references tossed around in passing within Destiny. It?s most notable mention is during the Winter?s Run Strike, in which players unleash an Arcon Priest and beat it down with bullets. The Prison of Elders is nestled with the Reef, which is where the bulk of House of Wolves will take place, it seems (rumor has it the Reef?ll also become a new social hub area, like the Tower on Earth).
Leading up to the expansion?s launch, Bungie will offer a ?walking tour? of The Reef on Wednesday, April 22, and will demo the Prison of Elders with live gameplay on Wednesday, May 6.
House of Wolves launches on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 May 19.
