Diablo 3 Fifth Highest Search Term in 2012 Worldwide

According to the 2012 Google Zeitgeist, Diablo III is the fifth highest search term in 2012—beaten only by “iPad 3,” “Hurricane Sandy,” “Gangnam Style,” and “Whitney Houston.”

Under video game-specific searches, Diablo III is number one, trumping Borderlands 2, Mass Effect 3, Halo 4, and Skyrim (in respective order).

Seems like Diablo III is just as much—if not more—of a global powerhouse as its predecessor. At least, enough to reach search trend levels rivaling overhyped/overpriced tablet technology, a major weather disaster, an Internet meme that spread like wildfire, and a deceased pop culture icon.
