Diablo III Open Beta Saw 300,000 Concurrent Players

THE BUZZ: Blizzard has revealed that the Diablo III open beta saw 300,000 concurrent players at one point.
The beta was designed to stress test Blizzard’s servers, and it certainly did.
“I think we peaked at around 300k concurrent [users],” Blizzard community manager Bashiok tweeted. When asked about total users he replied: ”I don’t know… a lot.”
Some players found it difficult to access the beta over the weekend due to the amount of people online, many received log-in errors. Blizzard’s reply was to just keep trying.
EGM’s TAKE: This certainly bodes well for the game’s official launch on May 15. If this many people want to play the beta then just imagine how many will want to play the full game. We know that Diablo III is going to be huge, just based on fan excitement. The question is will the servers be able to cope with the influx of players on release day? The last thing Blizzard wants is for people to experience log-in errors.
Did you have a chance to play the beta? Baht did you think? Let us know in the comments below.
