Players anxious to get their hands on Diablo III‘s Reaper of Souls expansion can now start downloading the data required to play it on March 25.
The download is around 6GB and includes content such as models, textures, art files, and also files for the game’s 2.0.1 pre-expansion patch. “By making this data available early, you’ll have leass to download once the pre-expansion patch and expansion are released,” Blizzard wrote.
“The background download data is encrypted and won’t make any changes to the live game or Battle.net service until patch 2.0.1 and Reaper of Souls launch. In the meantime, you will be able play Diablo III as normal, and your in-game experience should remain unaffected by the download itself.”
The Diablo III client and Battle.net desktop app should begin downloading the patch automatically the next time you log in.
