Not sure why anyone thought there would be, but in case you were hoping for a Watch Dogs demo abandon those hopes—creative director Jonathan Morin confirmed there won’t be one on Twitter over the weekend.
It’s a a little sad, really. Not the absence of a Watch Dogs demo—I feel like very few open-world games get a demo (it’s hard, if you think about it. I suppose they could cordon off a section of the city but that’s a lot of rejiggering for a demo’s sake). No, what’s kind of sad is the nature in which this news has come to light. As you can see in the exchange below, Morin was badgered on Twitter by one “Rawfan306” until he produced a response:
@Rawfan306 Dude relax, I receive too much tweets… They are no demo planned before release. Sorry for the wait, doing my best…

I think, perhaps, we’re getting a little unreasonable in our Twitter expectations, as though a persistent, constant presence on the social media service is something we’re obligated to give. Or maybe it’s some kind of commentary/performance meant to resonate with Watch Dogs‘ surveillance themes. Probably not.
Watch Dogs launches on Windows PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One May 27. A Wii U version is expected to follow at a later date.
