THE BUZZ: Wondering what happened to that “big announcement” for Battlefield 3 that EA said would happen in New York last week? Well it turns out it hasn’t quite reached us yet.
Community Manager Ian Tornay took to Reddit to address concerns over the “big announcement” stating that it’s a major time for EA at the moment and they don’t want the announcement to get lost in a sea of major content, so they are hanging back on it for now:
I think, as another Redditor pointed out, there’s been some confusion as to what was going to happen.
It’s a big time at EA right now – we’re starting to work on new titles, figuring out how to close up our year, and planning for the months to come.
That being said, we do have something really cool for you guys and (if I understand correctly) we didn’t want to smoosh it in with a bunch of other stuff.
We definitely have information coming – stay tuned.
Tornay also commented on the communities requests for Battlefield 2143, stating that DICE are considering it but no decisions have been made:
“There is a lot of enthusiasm inside DICE for 2143 – they love it as much as you guys do, too. Of course it’s an option. Is it more likely than anything else that’s been suggested? Not as far as I know. So, not a yes, not a no.”
EGM’s TAKE: It appears that Battlefield 3 fans will just have to sit out in the cold and be happy with patch updates until EA can clear their schedule and find time to announce new content. Battlefield is a major franchise for EA so it makes sense that it wouldn’t want a big announcement to get swallowed up and not garner the excitement and reach that it should. Chances are that it will get the announcement about he next Medal of Honor out of the way before moving back to Battlefield 3.
