DICE details upcoming Battlefield 4 weapon adjustments

Posted on January 29, 2014 AT 01:22pm

A smattering of Battlefield 4 weapons will receive balancing tweaks based on user feedback, DICE detailed in a recent post on the official Battlefield blog.

According to DICE, “we’re balancing a number of weapons to highlight their intended roles.”

DMRs (designated marksman rifles) across the board will receive an increase in damage dealt, namely at long ranges. DICE will also be reducing the accuracy penalty for sustained fire. Pump-action shotguns will also benefit from an increase in accuracy, about twice as much as they are now, both when moving and while aiming. And finally, the MTAR will lose some of its long range damage to match other carbines.

Another adjustments DICE has in store is repairing hip-fire-to-aimed-fire inaccuracy so that when a player begins firing before aiming, they only suffer the maximum aimed inaccuracy instead of retaining the hip inaccuracy. The developer will also be extending the heavy barrel’s accuracy bonus to movement, though slightly reduced, and synchronizing the timing of sniper rifle sighting animations so that players don’t have to wait as long to get accurate shots.
