DICE Explains Why Battlefield 3 DLC Took So Long

THE BUZZ: DICE’s Alan Kertz has revealed the reason it has taken the team so long to produce DLC for Battlefield 3 is that the team needed time to recharge its batteries after launch.
A Reddit post by the DICE man explained that it took time to ramp up development after launch and the team likes to take its time to ensure that its work is of the highest quality.
“The big reason that [the DLC is] taking so long is that we pushed hard on BF3, and lots of developers pushed vacations, parental leave and other things for a while to ship a product they could be proud about,” he wrote. ”After that was done, it takes a while to get people back into the office and up to speed.”
“Better from our perspective to wait a bit on the DLC and deliver quality content with plans to deliver different types of content for different types of players over the lifetime of BF3, rather than hurry one map out,” he added.
EGM’s TAKE: We completely understand that DICE needed time after a hectic few months to celebrate the launch of Battlefield 3, and enjoy some relaxation. We just hope that this DLC will be worth the wait. It looks impressive from a first glance, the new Ziba Tower map looks like the perfect deviation from the usual vehicle heavy massively scaled maps and should prove to be a lot of fun. We have every faith that DICE will produce the same quality of work they did for the main game.
