THE BUZZ: DICE General Manager commented on the Battlefield 3 Xbox 360 development build footage that leaked over the weekend.
A Reddit user managed to get their hands on a development build of Battlefield 3 for Xbox 360 and subsequently went on to post various videos and screenshots online, which EA quickly removed. Karl-Magnus Troedsson, General Manager at DICE, commented to Eurogamer about the leak:
“As people have probably noticed, when we show our games – we are very proud of what we’re doing – we always want to show it in the best light. We want to show the product as good as possible.”
“Watching the game in crappy 320×200 resolution on YouTube is not the way that we want people to experience the game.”
“We’d rather have them wait for us to show it in its real HD glory,” he said. “There are a lot of hard hours that have gone into this from the team, and naturally we’re disappointed. But, yeah, things happen.”
EGM’s TAKE: Although the leak wasn’t ideal for DICE we don’t believe that it will hurt Battlefield 3 in anyway.
