DICE is putting a hold on Battlefield 4 expansions while they remedy the issues currently plaguing the game’s multiplayer, a spokesperson informed Polygonhttp://www.polygon.com/2013/12/4/5175588/ea-halts-battlefield-4-expansions.
“First, we want to thank the fans out there that are playing and supporting us with Battlefield 4,” the EA spokesperson told Polygon in a statement. “We know we still have a ways to go with fixing the game—it is absolutely our No. 1 priority. The team at DICE is working non-stop to update the game. Since Battlefield 4 China Rising expansion pack was already in the final stages of development by the time issues began with Battlefield 4, we decided to fulfill our promise to deliver it this week, but we’re not moving onto future projects or expansions until we sort out all the issues with Battlefield 4. We know many of our players are frustrated, and we feel their pain. We w ill not stop until this is right.”
Battlefield 4’s Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions have suffered from a series of server-side issues since launch, resulting in players being kicked unexpectedly from servers, unable to connect in the first place, or when they do make it into a game, wade through lag so bad it cripples playability. These issues seemed to ramp up for Battlefield Premium subscribers yesterday, who gained access to the China Rising expansion.
