Injustice

Injustice 2‘s release date appears to have been posted on Twitter by Netherrealm creative director Ed Boon.

Though the tweet lacks the backing of any official announcement—or any words at all, for that matter—it’s hard to misconstrue the meaning of the image posted by Boon. It’s simple white text on a black background that reads “i2.05.16.17.” The obvious meaning is that “i2,” or Injustice 2, will release “05.16.17,” or May 16th, 2017.

While Boon is a notorious trickster, frequently teasing fans about potential roster additions that may or may not be real, it’s unlikely he’d pull a prank about something so important as this.

That’s slightly later than many fans were hoping, and much later than a previously leaked March 28th release date that was later debunked by Boon on Twitter.

While the wait may be longer than expected, there’s still plenty to reveal about Injustice 2, and we’ll hopefully learn a lot more about the heroes on the roster and the gameplay in the coming weeks.

Injustice 2 is due out this year for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with all signs pointing to a May 16th release.
