According to EEDAR, it seems that Sony’s “Welcome Back” program of free games and other items to thanks fans for their patience while PSN was down may have actually helped PS3 sales.
EEDAR stated that the number of PS3 owners who purchased digital titles in June was 17%, versus 13% in March. As well, the PS3 accounted for 44% of software sales in June, versus 40% in March.
One other point EEDAR made was that by downloading games such as inFamous, LittleBig Planet, and other titles, players ended up having more interest in the sequels to those games.
