Tomb Raider

Update: An anonymous source of Kotaku‘s has confirmed the game title seen in the mysterious picture below is, indeed, legitimate, though it could be subject to change before the game is officially revealed. Square Enix has yet to comment.

Original story: A blurry photo may be our first glimpse of the next Tomb Raider game.

The picture, taken by Reddit user Tripleh 280, shows someone working on a laptop on the subway. On the laptop screen is a presentation, and in the upper right hand corner of the presentation is a logo that seems to read “Shadow of the Tomb Raider.”

So far, there hasn’t been any news of a Rise of the Tomb Raider sequel. Despite having been out on the Xbox One for nearly a year, the game only just released on the PlayStation 4 a few weeks ago, and in the meantime the devs have been working on DLC, add-ons, and a PlayStation VR?compatible mode. This means that a new game, if there is one, is likely to be very early on in development.

The picture should be viewed with a large amount of skepticism?it’s just a logo of a presentation on a laptop screen, and the entire thing’s very blurry, meaning that it would be pretty easy setup to fake. Most of the presentation in the picture is unreadable, so it can’t provide any other information.

Still, if a game called Shadow of the Tomb Raider does end up surfacing?say, onstage at a future E3?you can say you heard it here first.
