Did Time Magazine Go Too Far For Modern Warfare 3?

Posted on June 13, 2011 AT 05:39pm

As part of the promotion for the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Time magazine agreed to allow Activision to make a mock-up issue of Time showing New York destroyed. Was that irresponsible? Check out the cover and see for yourself.

Should time – a legit news publication – allow its trademark cover style to be used for the promotion of a video game in such a way? Here’s the cover in question.

According to a Media Decoder story on The New York Times website, Time’s publisher Kim Kelleher said, “This is where the boys are. This is a great way to connect with millions of people we might not have otherwise connected with.”
