THE BUZZ: Codemasters has announced DiRT Showdown for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, due for release in May 2012.

The game is described as ”an arcade-style spin-off,” that mixes the extreme sports and Gymkhana elements of DiRT 2 and 3, and adds Demolition Derby. Showdown features three different types of racing, eight player online multiplayer and two player split-screen.

EGM’s TAKE: It appears that Codemasters is going for a more fun approach to the DiRT series with Showdown, taking the crazier elements from the series and bundling them in one insane package.
