Things aren’t looking great for Disney Interactive, which currently has the unsavory distinction of being the Disney Company’s only division to lose money in their Q3 2012 fiscal year report. Despite the fact that the entire corporation pocked $11 billion in revenue during April-June 2012, their video game studios lost $55 million dollars year-to-year from 2011.
Disney didn’t have much to say about it in their financial report, only noting that Brave: The Video Game didn’t hold up to sales that Cars 2 and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean did in 2011.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom, though, as the company played up their online gaming successes with Disney Mobile, Disney Online, and Disney Online Studios pulling their weight through various products.
Disney will be betting on Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two to significantly boost the section’s profits and revenue later this year. Predictively, that should be a bit easier since the release will be a multiplatform launch, and not a Wii exclusive.
