THE BUZZ: Disney has released the first images of its new animated film Wreck-It Ralph, which stars a video game villain fed up with his job.
The plot follows Ralph, a video game villain, who gets tired of destroying buildings and cities in his 8-bit arcade game only for Fix-it Felix to fix everything and steal the glory. One day Ralph spots a new arcade first-person shooter known as “Hero’s Duty” (see what they did there?) and decides to leave his game to become a hero in this new one.
However, things don’t go according to plan and Ralph is forced to team up with a character from a kart game known as “Sugar Rush” in order to save the arcade before it is shut down for good. The film is due to release December 26.
EGM’s TAKE: This film actually sounds pretty good on paper, we can’t wait to take a peak at the first trailer when it’s released. Although this does mean one thing, it’s movie tie-in time! And what movie lends itself better than one inspired by video games. We’re not expecting a AAA title or anything but something with a little more substance would be nice, since it’s actually a movie about video games. Keep an eye on this one.
