DK Rap Composer Laying Down Tracks for Castle of Illusion HD Remake

Posted on May 5, 2013 AT 09:30am

Composter Grant Kirkhope revealed on Twitter that he is wrapping up work on tracks for the upcoming Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse remake.

Kirkhope’s compositional credits include Donkey Kong Land 2, N64′s GoldenEye 007, the Banjo-Kazooie series, and Viva Piñata. His works have earned him several nominations for aural awards since 2004, particularly his work on Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

The composer’s biggest contribution to gaming culture is, of course, “DK Rap” from Donkey Kong 64 (which you can watch in the video embedded below). Anyone gaming in 1999 with an N64 ought to have fond memories of that track—I know I do.

Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse is a remake of the 1990 Sega Genesis game of the same name, will be available on XBLA, PSN, and PC sometime this summer.
