PlayStack and Maze Theory have announced a new “cinematic, feature-length” Doctor Who game titled Doctor Who: The Edge of Time.

A virus has been unleashed that is threatening to rip the universe apart and its up to players to pilot the TARDIS across new and familiar worlds to recover powerful time crystals that can be used to repair spacetime and save the universe.

While on their journey, players will have to solve mind-bending puzzles and take on new and returning enemies, including the Daleks and the Weeping Angels. The game will also star the Doctor’s current thirteenth incarnation, who is played by Jodie Whittaker.

“Maze Theory is committed to re-defining storytelling through awesome, innovative and immersive experiences in virtual reality. Doctor Who is an incredibly exciting and timeless franchise with a passionate and committed global fan base,” Marcus Moresby, creative director at Maze Theory, said. “We are looking to give them an entirely new experience; an opportunity to team-up with the Doctor and feel like they are in the show. This of course includes piloting the TARDIS, a dream come true for fans!”

Doctor Who: The Edge of Time launches this September for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, Oculus Quest, HTC Vive, and Vive Cosmos.
