Documents Suggest New PS3 4000 Series (Super Slim) Model is in the Works

Sony Computer Entertainment has filed a set of documents with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that appear to show a new PlayStation 3 model.
The documents reveal plans to develop a new PS3 model under the 4000 series label – the current console is 3000. Specifically, the CECH-4001x model is mentioned in the documents, this could be the rumored super slim console that is to be revealed at Gamescom.
Also mentioned, is that the letter “X” will be replaced by a different letter of the alphabet depending on the hard drive size. The new console is rumored to be smaller, lighter, and more energy efficient than current models.
