Donate Your Virtual RuneScape Gold to Help a Real Charity

Posted on October 31, 2013 AT 06:56am

Players of Jagex’s MMO RuneScape can donate their in-game gold to help a real-world charity.

The developer has launched The Well of Goodwill as part of a month long charity drive. Players can throw their in-game gold and RuneScape Bonds into the well, and for every 10 million gold pieces thrown in, Jagex will donate $1 to charities including GamesAid, Willow, SpecialEffect, Action for Kids, and the Internet Watch Foundation.

“With the Well of Goodwill, we believe we have created a perfect system to allow our players to support worthy charities through their in-game efforts without affecting their own real-world pockets,” said Jagex COO Riaan Hodgson.

A real-time totalizer has been set up by the developer to track the total donations and offer a spotlight for top doners. At the time of writing 100,030,824,066 coins have been donated.
