The Rockstar Games title with which publisher Take-Two Interactive recently teased fans apparently won’t see a release for around a year, if not longer.
A financial report by publisher Take-Two Interactive revealed that Rockstar Games has multiple projects in development and some have announcements right around the corner. “Rockstar Games is of course hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon,” Take-Two wrote.
According to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick who spoke during a subsequent earnings call, Rockstar’s upcoming title would not be released during the fiscal year of 2016 which runs April 1st, 2016 through March 31st, 2017. The game could still be announced soon, and it is expected to show up during this year’s E3, but it looks like the title’s release date won’t land before April of next year at the earliest.
The call also revealed that Take-Two is expecting a 75/25 revenue split for the fiscal year for labels between developers 2K Games and Rockstar, further suggesting no Rockstar title is popping up in 2016.
The game most likely to be announced is Red Dead Redemption 2, believed to be a prequel to the wildly popular old west shooter released in 2010. The new installment has not been confirmed, but numerous rumors have surfaced regarding the potential title including a possible map design for the game’s setting.
