The Kickstarter campaign for Dreamfall Chapters: The Longest Journey went live this morning and Red Thread Games is aiming for $850,000 in funding.
According to the developer, the $850,000 will be enough to see the game released digitally for PC in November 2014. Red Thread has already secured $175,000 via the Norwegian Film Institute, but needs the additional Kickstarter funds to expand the development team and purchase hardware and software licenses.
Chapters sees players reprise the role of Dreamfall heroine Zoë Castillo, taking her back to the twin worlds of Stark and Arcadia. The game also introduces a new landscape called Storytime, which Red Thread describes as a “mysterious dreaming realm… where every story begins, and where dreams come to life.”
Finally Chapters also continues the storyline of The Longest Journey protagonist April Ryan, answering many questions left open from previous games. You can check out the campaign here, currently it’s on $78,519 of its $850,000 goals with 29 days remaining.
