Dreamfall Chapters to Fund with Kickstarter
Posted on November 2, 2012 AT 04:04pm
Yesterday, we reported on the upcoming Dreamfall Chapters, the long awaited sequel to Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. The game is currently in pre-production from new studio Red Thread Games.
We also predicted we’d soon hear that the company would turn to Kickstarter to acquire funding for the project.
Sure enough, this was confirmed by Dreamfall creator and Red Thread founder Ragnar Tørnquist today. Speaking with Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Tørnquist said, “We will be doing a Kickstarter. Not right now, but we will be doing it in the near future, simply because although we received a grant from the Norwegian Film Institute, which was announced today, that is only for the preproduction phase. That allows us to get started on a prototype but in order to fully develop Dreamfall Chapters we’re going to need more money and we will be going to Kickstarter.”
No, this doesn’t exactly make us Kreskin, but it was the day after Halloween and we weren’t exactly at our sharpest either, so give us some credit.
We’re thrilled to see Dreamfall return and wish Tørnquist luck with the pre-production and the Kickstarter. We’ll be sure to report it any new developments in the game’s progress.
