Dust 514

THE BUZZ: CCP has shown off its new Eve Online console tie-in, Dust 514, and someone was kind enough to film the whole presentation and put it online.

Dust 514 is a massively multiplayer first-person shooter for PlayStation 3. The game is directly linked to Eve Online, with players on consoles battling over planets for their PC generals. The video below explains everything in greater detail.

EGM’s TAKE: This is one ambitious project, and if CCP can pull it off it may change the future of gaming. Imagine if every major MMO did tie-ins like this, it may even bring console and PC gamers closer together. It’s a very big if though. The community of Eve Online is a very close knit group who hate change. CCP first must win them over with the tie-in idea. The thought of strangers fighting over planets may just annoy them.
