It seems there’s nowhere Angry Birds won’t go. From iPhones to Androids to board games and wearable hats, the agitated avians have slingshot themselves all over the gaming world—and it looks like HD consoles are next on the list.
The Escapist pried some news out of Activision PR during E3 2012, revealing that Rovio’s mega-million selling franchise will be announced for HD consoles “in about two weeks.” It was a small but important clue that led to the discovery, as the Escapist crew noticed the following scene during their E3 rounds:
Somewhere between an ad for Call of Duty and some footage of The Amazing Spiderman we caught sight of an eerily familiar, tiny red bird soaring kamikaze-style into the Activision logo’s giant “A.”
“We’ll have some news for you in about two weeks,” Activision said. “Wait until you see Angry Birds on consoles in HD.”
That ad was shown on a large screen in Activision’s public booth, so the news was apparently just sitting there, waiting to be discovered. Most PR representatives are generally very tight-lipped about these things (especially at E3), so expect to see news circulating about Angry Birds invading your PS3 and Xbox 360 (maybe even Wii U) consoles this year.
