A spinoff of Turn 10’s popular Forza Motorsport series, Forza Horizon has been dated for October 23, 2012.

The game’s debut trailer, shown onstage at Microsoft’s E3 press conference, was short on details, though mention was made of the game’s rumored open-world Colorado setting, and there was certainly an increased focus on street racing in the footage we saw.

At the moment, it’s hard to tell exactly how far from the base franchise Horizon will be straying, but the graphics, physics and cars—we spotted a Mitsubishi EVO and an Audi Quattro—all seem fairly close to what we’ve come to expect.
