E3 2012: Issac Clarke Returns In Dead Space 3, Launches February 2013

Issac Clarke and Ellie Langford return in Dead Space 3, and Visceral Games conducted a live demo for the crowd at their E3 press conference.

Co-op gameplay featuring Issac and new protagonist John Carver taking on puzzles and enemies together, with two players side-by-side. From the start, both players had to work together to disable a massive drill gone loose, flailing about a small enclosed space. There were human enemies as well, as both Issac and John were forced to take cover from incoming enemy fire.

A massive new Necromorph beast was shown as a boss encounter, spitting out smaller child Necromorphs before grabbing one player and swallowing him whole. What followed afterward was a particularly gruesome scene, as Issac was pushed down the creature’s insides and spit out into the stomach acid.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t a death animation, as the Visceral Games rep simply noted that Issac ‘wasn’t coming out the way he came back in.” Dead Space 3 will feature drop-in co-op, and releases on February 2013.
