Konami is putting a lot of emphasis on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow as the franchise’s new timeline, as a short clip near the end of their pre-E3 event cited June 5th as the big reveal date for more information on their upcoming handheld sequel, Castlevania: Mirror of Fate.

For everyone who’s been keeping track, the surprise is more than a little spoiled, as the June 2012 issue of Nintendo Power leaked a good chunk of details about the Lords of Shadow follow-up. Amongst all of the new features, the biggest change is the return of Trevor (wielding the Combat Cross) and Simon Belmont (with the Vampire Killer whip) to starring roles.

With Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 taking up residence on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, this will most likely be a driving force for the Nintendo 3DS’ library.
