E3 2012: Madden NFL 13, FIFA 13 Use Kinect For Live Play Calling

EA’s Andrew Wilson and NFL Hall of Famer Joe Montana showed off new Kinect features for Madden 13, including voice command play calling and team direction. With the Kinect’s audio features, Montana was able to call out specific play, positions, and players, changing the team’s actions in real-time.

Prior to the Madden 13 demo, Andrew Wilson demoed FIFA 13, which also uses voice commands to call substitutions. It even registers players’ reactions to referee calls, as some particularly foul language was censored in the footage, and we assume that aggravated cursing will result in penalties for both games.

Madden 13 was confirmed for August 28th, while FIFA 13 was slated for this coming Fall season.
