E3 2012: Madden NFL 13 Gets Real-Time Physics, Connected Careers

Posted on June 4, 2012 AT 01:21pm

EA Sports Football general manager Cam Weber took to the stage at EA’s E3 press conference to pull back the curtain on Madden NFL 13.

Weber touted two major improvements to this year’s release, the first of which has been a long requested feature. Thanks to the new Infinity Engine, Madden 13 will feature real-time physics on every collisions. That means the outcomes of tackles and blocks are no longer pre-determined, but completely dynamic based on the sizes and physical abilities of the players involved.

The second major addition comes in the form of the new Connected Careers mode, which effectively integrates Superstar Mode, Franchise Mode, and Online Franchise Mode into one single mode. That means you can play online with your friends in a single league, either as players, coaches, or even a combination of the two. EA also teased some intriguing social features, including a virtual Twitter feed that allows real-life sportscasters to respond to the events in your league in real time.

Madden NFL 13 will be playable on the E3 show floor this week, so check back later in the week for our hands-on impressions.
