E3 2012: Nintendo Hopes Nintendo Land is the Next Wii Sports
Posted on June 5, 2012 AT 10:22am
Nintendo has revealed what they hope will be the equivalent to Wii Sports on the Wii U.
Nintendo Land will gather many of Nintendo’s popular franchises into one game. Among the mini-games confirmed are The Legend of Zelda‘s Battle Quest and Animal Crossing Sweet Way.
Nintendo demonstrated Takamaru’s Ninja Castle—a throwing star shooting gallery—and Luigi’s Ghost Mansion. The latter is a multiplayer mini-game in which four players hunt a ghost, which is controlled by a player utilizing the Wii U gamepad. It will take place from an overhead perspective, and is somewhat evocative of 2003′s Pac-man Vs.
Players will be cast as a visitor to the theme park as a Mii. The game will also include a function called “Miiverse,” which appears to popular the theme park with a huge number of Mii avatars.
Nintendo Land will include twelve total attractions, Nintendo confirmed. Five will be shown at E3.
Nintendo Land will be launching with the Wii U this holiday season.
