Pikmin 3 is coming to the Wii U, Nintendo confirmed at their press event today.

Nintendo Shigeru’s Miyamoto touted the higher resolution, making it easier to discern individual Pikmin, as well as the impact of the Wii U’s touch controls.

As with the Wii releases of the first two Pikmin games, Pikmin 3 will utilize motion technology to aim objects precisely. New touchscreen controls will also make it easier to place individual Pikmin.

Among the modes is a challenge in which Pikmin must attempt to grab as many pieces of fruit as possible within a set time limit. It will include the ability to watch a video replay of a run to try and improve efficiency.

Pikmin 3 does not yet have a release date.
