E3 2012 RUMOR: Wii U Hitting October, Not Yet Cleared With Government
Posted on June 6, 2012 AT 02:15pm

At Nintendo’s press briefing yesterday, the company showed no signs of nailing down details such as release date or price for their upcoming Wii U. We’ve heard a few juicy rumors directly relating to one of those points, however.
While talking to one source (who we’ll keep anonymous) about their upcoming Wii U project, they let slip that the game would be hitting to coincide with the console’s launch. The month of release for their game? October. Now, titles do occasionally hit a week or so ahead of a new console’s release—so if true, that could either point to the Wii U itself also hitting in October, or the first batch of titles coming out in the last week of October, and maybe the Wii U at the beginning of November.
So why no solid release date yet? That could be tied to another rumor we’ve heard, once again from a source that will go unnamed. We were told that the Wii U console itself has not yet received final approval from the FTC. Now, that’s not really a big deal in and of itself—but the timeframe of that approval could have an effect on when exactly the console can hit store shelves.
