Developer studio Maxis announced at EA’s E3 press conference that SimCity Social is moving to Facebook, with added features and social media elements. Their trailer even took a jab at Zynga, saying that their game would be “more city, less ‘ville”.
Here’s a list of things highlighted in the sizzle reel:
- Constructible worlds use traceable roads, drop-and-drop building templates
- Data can be visually highlighted on your city map to gauge your progress
- Cities can be crafted to fit certain themes, such as building around sports stadiums
- Multiplayer will be a larger feature, with collaborative projects
Maxis closed out their presentation with trailer footage showing several cities being built and re-built, from suburbs to metropolises to construction-heavy sites. Citywide disasters were also shown, highlighting crime, traffic, and even a giant dinosaur attack.
