Ubisoft Montreal doesn’t want you to know when Watch Dogs is coming to PC and consoles, but nothing escapes the long memory of the Internet. We didn’t think much of it when tweets started to go missing from the developer’s Twitter account, but sometimes the things you want to hide look all the more suspicious.
In a reply to a random fan, the Watch Dogs twitter account confirmed a release year for Watch Dogs:
@imzaki1994 The game will be released in 2013 and will be on released on PC and consoles.
Since then, that errant tweet has since been deleted from their Twitter account, but 2013 is both an interesting and nebulous time frame. Throughout E3, the sense EGM got from most developers was that everyone was spinning their wheels awaiting for the next PlayStation and Xbox consoles—PS4 and Xbox 720, as well commonly call them.
If Watch Dogs is indeed heading to consoles and PC in 2013, it may be one of those “launch” titles for whoever’s releasing a “next-generation” console first. Of course, the game could always be pushed back, but all we can go on is this message lifted from Ubisoft’s Twitter archives.
