It looks like we’ll be getting some news about E3 2013 pretty soon, as ESA vice president Rich Taylor is teasing some upcoming news and announcements this Monday. E3’s future has been up for some debate, as the ESA didn’t announce their 2013 venue after the 2012 show closed—an unusual delay, as such a thing is typically announced on the last day of the event.

Here’s the heads-up from Jason Rubin’s official Twitter feed:

Hey guys. On Monday I’ll be making a big announcement regarding E3 2013, so be sure to follow me for updates and spread the word! #E32013

As noted earlier this summer, E3 2013 could very likely be held outside of Los Angeles, and in a different state altogether because of a business breakdown between the city of Los Angeles and the ESA.

Los Angeles will actively be shutting down half of the LA Convention Center to make room for the new Farmers Field Stadium, which is intended to attract future Super Bowls, sports affiliations, and other live events. As a result, there won’t be enough room to house E3 2013, as the convention typically takes over both the South and West Halls, as well as surrounding areas.

That, plus E3’s stagnant attendance rates, are definite factors prompting the move to a new location. Our best guesses are Chicago, which hosts the world’s largest convention center in McCormick Place, or the Anaheim Convention Center, in the interest of convenience for usual businesses and continued revenue for the Los Angeles area.
