EA Aims to Expand Mirror’s Edge Audience with Sequel

Talking to IGN, EA Labels president Frank Gibeau stated that the company intends to target established fans with the Mirror’s Edge sequel, but appeal to a wider swathe of gamers as well.

“Our goal in any product is to try and grow the audience,” Gibeau told IGN. “We’re definitely taking into account the opportunity to reach a bigger group of people. We think we’ve got the right story and accessibility that can do that.”

“I think the time is right now because we’ve got a creative idea,” Gibeau said. “We have a great story planned. WIth all the ten 4 technology, we can re-create that magic of running across rooftops and experiencing a city from a different point of view through the character of Faith.”

The Mirror’s Edge sequel—which is rumored to be a reboot—was officially announced during EA’s E3 press conference. Gibeau has described the title as an “open-world action-adventure game.”

DICE is developing the title for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and plan to release the title “when it’s ready.”
