THE BUZZ: EA has announced a new expansion pack for FIFA 12 that will add the UEFA Euro Championships to the game.
The expansion pack will be available April 24 priced at 1800 Microsoft Points or $21.99 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
Containing all 53 UEFA national teams, and all eight tournament stadiums, this is the only way to experience this illustrious competition in video game form.
“This game will tap into the passion fans have for their national teams by capturing all of the national rivalries in-game, and re-creating all the emotion of the UEFA EURO 2012™ tournament,” said Producer Sebastian Enrique. “We are utilizing the best-playing FIFA videogame ever, driving live, digital content created from the biggest headlines from the tournament into the game, and offering an exclusive new mode that will challenge gamers in unique and compelling ways.”
An all new Expedition Mode will also be added to the game allowing fans to build, manage and compete with a customized team against other nations.
EGM’s TAKE: Finally EA has learned a lesson that it should have years ago, we don’t need a separate game for every major tournament. The only game people are interested in is FIFA, so it only makes sense that you release these as DLC and not completely new games that are doomed to failure. Whether people will be willing to spend so much on an expansion is yet to be seen.
