EA COO Peter Moore has publicly apologized for a string of April Fools’ Day tweets posted by the official Frostbite Engine Twitter account, stating that they were not condoned by the publisher.
The tweets poked fun at the latest Frostbite engine not being able to run on Nintendo’s console. ”Frostbite now runs on #WiiU since it is the most powerful Gen4 platform,” Frostbite wrote. “Our renderer is now optimized for Mario and Zelda.”
“Frostbite will power #HalfLife3, coming out summer 2014!” a second message read. “#WiiU exclusive.”
“Good news, we have finally fixed and optimized our ‘netcode’. Uses quantum entanglement for Zero Latency connections. Exclusively on #WiiU.”
All three of these messages have since been removed from the account. ”Our apologies to partners @NintendoAmerica & fan @FrostbiteEngine ‘s poor attempt at April Fools not condoned by EA: unacceptable/ stupid,” a tweet from Moore reads.
